An African Artist on the Web !

There are great Artists in the land of Africa, and one of them is Babafemi Mark~Elaturoti(a Nigerian).

Babafemi Elaturoti(a native of Esa-Odo in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria), started photography as a hobby (with a 35mm SLR Camera) in September 1996. He did not go into photography just for the fun of taking pictures. He went into photography because of the creative ability that has been inherent in him right from his childhood.

When he was a child, he was very unique. He saw, approached, reasoned and reacted to things around him in a very novel way as compared to his peers. He was very critical in everything. Today, his creative talent has manifested in photography.

Femi did not take up an apprenticeship with any photographer before he could master the basic principles of photography. Although, he encountered some intricacies in his diverse approaches, he learns solely from his mistakes. Within the first six months of his practice, he had known the basic principles. He always seeks knowledge from write-ups on photography and the encyclopedia. Due to his knowledge of the basic principles of photography, he has lectured as a resource person at a workshop involving Basic Photography at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria's Premier University.

In Nigeria, Femi takes photographs for artists that may wish to have certain concepts for their sleeves and flyers. He takes motion pictures too.

Femi's greatest domain is Nature Photography. He travels to many parts of Nigeria to capture areas of scenic beauty. Some of his photographs have been used in magazines and for interior decoration. Really, Femi seeks to promote African culture with his photography.

On 1st October 1997 (Nigeria's Independence Anniversary), Femi took the photograph of a very rare phenomenon which he wishes to present to the National Museum in Nigeria.

Femi holds a Nigerian Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Nigeria. Despite his qualification in accountancy, photography still accords him the greatest satisfaction.
